Arapahoe County Quilters

Celebrating the Art of Quiltmaking for 30+ Years

President's Message - June 2022

May 30, 2022 9:51 PM | Lynn Roginski

We’re Halfway There

It’s hard to believe that we are already halfway through the year!  And what a year it has been.  We have had some amazing speakers and workshops from both local and international quilt artists, we have successfully met virtually and in-person, and we have had more participation in charity quilts this year than all of last year combined!  These are definitely things to celebrate.

As we look forward to the second half of this year, we have some great things in store.  We are moving our June meeting to Saturday the 11th, and will have a great line-up of books and bargains for sale, judging for our annual mini challenge, and an opportunity to get together with many of our guild and board members - including some from out of town.  If you would like to help out (and get first dibs on items), please arrive early.  We would be happy to put you to work.

We are also looking forward to getting geared up for next year.  In January, our board made the difficult decision to postpone the Festival of Quilts for another year due to uncertainty with COVID.  This means that you now have officially one year to get your quilts prepared to show at our festival!  We are also busy gathering speakers and workshop opportunities for 2023.  The line-up will be announced in the fall.  We are also planning another virtual retreat - and would welcome any help or recommendations as we start getting prepared.

As our board and committees are completely run by volunteers, we are also looking for those interested in helping us form the future of the guild.  We need people for both short term opportunities - like helping at an event, and long-term opportunities serving on the board or committees.  In an effort to aid in this, we are looking to put together a nominating committee for 2023.  Currently we are in need of a President elect 2023, Vice President, Programs 2024 and Membership 2024.  If you would like to be part of shaping the future of ACQ, consider volunteering for the Nominating committee.  Please contact Jen Dietz or Barb Pond for more information.
