Start with a pack of 5" squares and plant a garden with this fun flower block. Or, grab fabrics from your stash! How you start to collect fabrics for the quilt is up to you! Quilt Along classes will include 4 sessions of 1 ½ hours each. Topics to be covered in the sessions will include color choices, tips on achieving that good ¼" seam allowance, how to make the stem units and how to enlarge the quilt into the Gardenesque version with borders!

Quilt is from the book Smash Your Precut Stash. Book is required for taking the class.

In each of the 4 sessions we will cover techniques for making the quilt.

April 14: Session 1- color choices and picking the quilt version you will make- Picturesque with a small border or Gardenesque with multiple borders including a pieced ribbon border. Will review how to resize Picturesque with just adding a larger border.
Homework: picking out fabrics (if not already done ) and cutting the fabrics

April 25: Session 2- Basic block layout, the 1/4" seam , HST tips and how to make the stem unit.
Homework: making blocks.

May 19: Session 3 - layout options and sewing blocks into rows
Homework: sewing the rows

June 16: Session 4- how to enlarge a quilt including the pieced borders and measuring for borders

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR - KATE COLLERAN

Seams Like a Dream Quilt Designs started in 2003, a collaboration between myself and Elizabeth Balderrama. I did the designs and Elizabeth did consultations, pattern testing and was the shipping maven. She kept me on track and in check! My daughter Alyssa has always been our consultant for color and style and our booth babe at Quilt Market!

In 2012, my husband and I moved from our hometown in Connecticut to Colorado and I decided to take a break from my other profession, nursing, which I had done for over 30 years. What a great few years it has been with lots of new patterns, quilts in magazines, a Craftsy class and the book, Smash Your Precut Stash with C&T Publishing.

Then, in late 2015 I became the sole owner of the business. Elizabeth retired but luckily for me, Alyssa occasionally still consults and comes to Quilt Market when she can. Her jobs at an organic farm and at a local quilt shop keep her pretty busy.

From day 1, our goal was to help you make a quilt. And to have fun. And my goal is unchanged. To me quilting is about creating, about learning and having fun and about community.
