Amish Inspired Quilts For Today

Noted quilt designer Carl Hentsch has always admired Amish quilts and quilters.  Living only a short distance from an "old order" Amish community has allowed him to explore their world and come to know and respect some of these quilters and their ability to create beautiful quilts without the use of electricity.

Join us as he explores their use of color and design using modern fabrics and techniques based on a "6-color" color wheel with various tints and shades used to enhance his designs.

Meeting will be IN PERSON with Carl joining us via ZOOM for his presentation.  Meeting will also be LIVE-STREAMED.

About Carl Hentsch

My interest in crafting began at the age of 6 when I made my first quilt (with my mother's help) for my niece who was about to be born.  It was not a patchwork quilt, but was hand-embroidered.  At age 12, I was beginning to design dresses for her.  In the mid to late 90's I discovered HGTV and Alex Anderson, as well as PBS and Eleanor Burns.  After seeing Eleanor's son on the show and saw that he was quilting, I began to think "guys can do this too!"  After several attempts, I completed my first quilt and still have that quilt today.  Upon moving to Missouri in 2006, I rediscovered my love of quilting, found wonderful quilt shops, and the rest is history.

Since then, I have published a book after appearing at the AQS show in Knoxville. I created a quilt for the 2010 Hoffman Challenge which made one of the traveling trunk shows and was displayed at the International Quilt Market in Houston.  After receiving many requests for my patterns, I created my pattern company "3 Dog Design".
